The Rococo fashion for tureens in the form of animals, fruits and vegetables was a hallmark of the Chelsea factory, the first of the great English potteries, established in 1735 in London. Mottahedeh's hand painted reproduction captures the whimsical nature of the original tureen. It is made of faience, a soft paste white porcelain. Also offered in a larger size; it is perrenial.

A favorite with brides, Mottahedeh specializes in luxurious patterns and unique, elegant shapes that are reproduced from china found in museums and historical societies. The patterns feature complex and vibrant colors, and hand-painted gold decoration. The pieces are surprisingly fresh and timely, and look wonderful in both contemporary and traditional dining rooms.
