This world map epitomizes the golden age of Dutch cartography circa 1630.Decorating the borders are representations of the four elements and other scenes. Portraits of Julius Caesar and Claudius Ptollemy and mapmakers Jodocus Hondius and Gerard Mercator adorn the top the dishes in the collection. Of note are the descriptions of California as an island, an expansive Canada and a massive Austrailian Continent.

A favorite with brides, Mottahedeh specializes in luxurious patterns and unique, elegant shapes that are reproduced from china found in museums and historical societies. The patterns feature complex and vibrant colors, and hand-painted gold decoration. The pieces are surprisingly fresh and timely, and look wonderful in both contemporary and traditional dining rooms.
